Galaxy Entertainment Group has requested the installation of 444 slot machines, but the government has refused to do so to slow Macau's expansion of the gaming industry. The 3% increase in game tables for operators was prepared by former Minister of Strategy and Finance Francis Tham and will be implemented for 10 years from 2013.
The Galaxy Entertainment Group may have the option to place 400 tables in two ongoing developments in Macau, but this requires the placement of tables in existing buildings such as Galaxy Macau Phase 1 and Star World Hotel. Galaxy officials are not happy with the decision and still hope profits like profitability will be considered.
